Blue color can decrease your appetite, doesn’t it? 

          It’s well known that color can trigger or encourage your subconscious responses or feeling. The color blue can have many positive effects on human’s mind and body such as calming you mind down because blue can create chemicals in the body that are slow down human metabolism. We usually see that a room wall of the living room or bedroom is blue. However, we rarely see a room wall of dining room or restaurant blue. It’s usually red or yellow instead. Do you know why?

Another effect of the color blue
It’s normal that human try to adapt to their surroundings and environment. The fact is the environment doesn’t have many blue items. Some naturally blue foods are blueberries, blue corn and some types of blue potato. The brain doesn’t recognize blue foods as something safe to eat. If we think of the poison, we usually think it’s blue. The evolutionary instinct of colored food protects us against eating poisonous and dangerous foods. This instinct creates aversion to eating whatever that has blue as a dominant color. Thus, the color blue can decrease your appetite. 

The research
There is a study had participants spend time in blue, red and yellow room. The result shows that the participants from the blue room ate foods 33% less than other rooms. Another study was serving food with different colors food dye. When served food with blue food dye, participants eat foods less than usual. It shows that participants lost their appetite. Furthermore, product testers of new food have a tendency to inhibit blue foods because blue color made it look unappetizing. For example, blue Pepsi which didn’t last long. If you think about blue liquid in your mind, what do you think first? Definitely, you don’t want it to go inside your body. It seems like drug, potion or anything that can make you sick. 

How to use blue effect in daily life?
You usually see many blue rooms, in which you can relax because the color blue can calming you down. And many restaurants use red or yellow which have opposite effect of blue. You also can use the color blue in your diet plan. Eating foods with blue food dye can decrease your appetite and make you eat less than usual. But it’s hard to make every meal with blue food dye. A simple way is changing your plates, spoons and forks to blue or install blue light into your refrigerator. These method can decrease your appetite, too.

          If you want to weight loss, try to use blue that is the natural way to decrease your appetite. Remember to try it to your next meal and see if it helps you in your diet plan.
