Can people lose weight
by not eating Carbohydrate?
Nowadays, weight is just a number that you can control and there are
many ways to control it – exercise, stop or control your food or etc. In
exercise case, it is fundamental way which everyone can do it. Most men do this
way by playing sports or running around backyard but this way will make
them become exhausted and some women don’t like this way. My sister doesn’t
like exercise too. I and my sister are interesting in Food control. We think
that it will be easier than exercise but which kind of food we have to control?
In general, we divide food into 5
groups; Meat, Rice, Vegetable, Fruit and Oil. Each one can give energy to eater
but we don’t know which one has most energy. Therefore, we will use a standard of
Biochemistry (Nutrients) that is divided by
chemical structure. In Biochemistry, they divide
into 3 groups; protein, carbohydrate and lipid. Protein is found in meat. Carbohydrate
is found in rice and bread. Lipid is found in oil and fat.

Why we choose carbohydrate as a variable
in this experiment? Because carbohydrate is the first kind of nutrients that
our body use to produce energy. If there is no carbohydrate, the body will use
lipid as secondary energy and the reason that human use carbohydrate as first
energy because carbohydrate molecules chains can break
easy. So I think that I has to make some
experiment to prove that people can lose
weight by not eating carbohydrate.
Let’s do the experiment!
The
experiment
From online information, the populardiet plans is fad diet. What is fad diet? – It’s a weight loss plan which
eliminates one or more nutrients. These diet plans aren’t good for long-term
weight loss but the result can be shown in 2 weeks. So we will use fad diet
plan as a guideline for our experiment.
At starting point, my sister weight
is 57 kg. She thought that her weight is getting out of control. She started
the fad diet by making her food plans. Her breakfast plan is about heavy meal
without rice. – Ex. Salad with boiled egg, Miang Kam or
Steak. The reason that breakfast has to be
heavy meal because of human body metabolism. If our body out of carbohydrate,
we will feel hungry. So if we eat heavy meal which is
difficult to digest, we will be slowly hungry.
Her lunch plan is about her favorite meal without carbohydrate and her dinner
plan is about fruit and soy milk. I
think that it’s hard for everyone to deny rice and bread.
Before and after two diet weeks.
After two diet weeks, her weight is
48 kg. She looks sickly. Her arms and legs are too skinny. She told me that “During two weeks, she was always hungry. She felt very
bad and didn’t want to do this fad diet again.” After I heard this
story, I think that I will not suggest this fad diet way to others because of side effects.
Conclusion
It’s true that people can lose
weight by not eating carbohydrate and it is the fastest way to losing weight
but there are side effects too. The side effects are that you will always be
hungry and your body will be skinny. Each effect has same reason and the reason
is lack of carbohydrate. So I think that the best healthy way to lose weight is
just eat with balance and exercise.
