Can eating
peanut make you fart?
Peanut is a popular snack in many
countries. It easy plant and easy find in supermarket or market. There are many
benefits for health such as protein and low cholesterol. It can be transformed to
many menus such as peanut butter etc. So when people are hungry, they often eat
peanut. But there are many people who usually fart after eating food that there is
peanut. From these statements I think that eating peanut will make you fart.
In my experiment, there are three
conditions and one control. There are eight participants. Two participants in
each condition and control. In the first condition, participants will eat one
pack of peanut snack in one day. In the second condition, participants will eat
two pack of peanut snack in one day. In the last condition, participants will
eat three pack of peanut snack in one day. From control, participants won’t eat
any peanut snack in one day. I will ask every participant about the number of times of
fart in one day.
The result shows that participants in
the first condition, farting about 2-3 times in one day. Participants in the second
condition farting about 4-5 times in one day. Participants in the last condition
fart about 6-7 times in one day and participants in control fart about 0-1
times in one day.
From the result I can find that
participants who eat peanut will usually fart more than participants who don’t
eat peanut. For participants who eat peanut more will usually fart more. Hence, I can conclude that eating
peanut causes more fart.
The reason why eating peanut causes farting is in peanut there are many fiber and some starch. In the digestive system of human, we can’t assimilate fiber and starch. Therefore, many
bacteria in the large intestine have to assimilate fiber and starch. For this process, there are much gas to be released in the large intestine. When gas mixed with bolus in
the large intestine, it causes bad gas that causes fart.
